Specialized                                                 Therapeutic                                                     And                                                         Recreational Riding   Established in 1996, STAR is an equine assisted therapeutic program dedicated to serving disabled people in the Aiken/Augusta area. As a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) affiliate, our staff adheres to NARHA's strict safety standards. To learn more about NARHA please go to www.narha.org STAR is a fully insured facility. Instructors are certified by NARHA  and attend NARHA workshops and other continuing education seminars in order to best serve our students. Volunteers attend regular training sessions, and are encouraged to educate themselves in various areas, including research into specific disabilities as well as horse handling. STAR staff assists these dedicated people by sharing what they learn in informal workshops. For people who are unable to participate in activities other family members and friends enjoy, and for those who spend many hours in structured therapy the STAR program is an opportunity to relax in a safe informal environment and have fun while enjoying the many benefits that riding a horse offers.   Please read on to learn more about us!
