OUR VOLUNTEERS
STAR would not function without our dedicated volunteers.
Volunteering is not only a way to help those less fortunate than us, it's fun!
Working directly with the students during lessons is great exercise as well as extremely rewarding.
Volunteers can take great pride in the progress students make and the bonds formed between students volunteers and horses are priceless.
To see a student grow from a timid fearful rider to one who's eyes light up at the sight of a horse... to help a non verbal child learn the word "whoa"... to watch a student strive to learn to direct their horse...to hear a stroke victim proclaim they no longer need a walker...
WARNING: Volunteering may be addictive!!!
Patsy and Kerri both began as volunteers and are now running the program!
No experience is required to volunteer.
Those who don't wish to work directly with horses and students can help in other ways:
*Assist in planning fundraisers and special events
*Help with volunteer coordination
*Accompany the coordinator on community outreach presentations
The next training session will be on Sat. Sept. 15th at 10:00 AM at Hopeland Farm 1389 Banks Mill Rd. Aiken
